PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct. 21) – With the start of the season two weeks away, the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team received its first individual honor of 2025-26 Tuesday, landing senior
Elaina Mack on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
A 5-8 shooting guard, Mack was an honorable mention All-GNAC performer for last year's UAA squad that went 28-5 overall and swept the GNAC regular-season and tournament crowns. The King Cove, Alaska, native ranked second in the league with 2.3 three-pointers per game, eighth in three-point percentage (.377) and 20th in scoring (11.5 ppg). Along with UAA career ranks of fifth in three-pointers per game (1.9) and eighth in threes made (161), she begins her final season on pace to reach 1,000 career points.
Mack is among 15 honorees on the annual preseason list, ready to captain a squad that was picked sixth in the league's preseason coaches' poll under new head coach
Matt Thune.
"I am proud to see Elaina recognized for her talent and the work she puts into becoming the best player she can be," Thune said. "Throughout the coaching transition here at UAA, she's set the tone with her discipline, toughness and relentless work ethic – qualities that will have a lasting impact on our program. When it's time to compete, Elaina is always ready, and I am excited to coach her and go to battle with her this year."
