Seawolf women add D-I transfer Liggett

ANCHORAGE (Nov. 24) – The Alaska Anchorage women's basketball program got another infusion of talent Monday as head coach Matt Thune announced that transfer Sheridan Liggett has signed a scholarship agreement to play for the Seawolves.

A 5-9 guard, Liggett played her first two collegiate seasons at Div. I Seattle University, playing in all 60 of her team's games, including 16 starts. She averaged 5.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game as a redshirt sophomore last season, posting a career-high 17 points against Cal Baptist among her three double-figure scoring efforts.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sheridan to the UAA women's basketball family," said Thune, who has the Seawolves off to a 5-0 start and nationally ranked in his first season. "Having coached her during my time at Seattle University, I've seen firsthand the work ethic, competitiveness, desire, and character she brings to a program. Sheridan understands what it takes to compete at a high level – the intensity that is needed each and every day – and I have no doubt she'll make an impact here."

The Mapleton, Utah, native was a two-time all-state performer at Maple Mountain High School, earning first-team honors her senior season. Liggett was also a first-team all-region player as a junior and senior, averaging 14.6 points over her four varsity seasons.

Liggett will join the Seawolves in December after spending the first semester this season at fellow NCAA Div. II program Colorado Mesa.
