TOWSON, Md. (Mar. 9) – Senior
Grace Costello posted three 9.625-plus scores and the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team posted a historic performance on uneven bars Sunday, earning second place at the Towson tri-meet with 191.725 points.
The Seawolves finished behind the host Tigers (195.450), while edging West Chester (191.425) for their fourth victory of the season.
UAA finished strong in its final rotation, getting career highs from four gymnasts and tying the No. 4 uneven bars total in program history at 48.900. Sophomore

Madelyn Gomez and freshman
Hannah Boyd all scored 9.8s, marking personal bests for Gomez and Boyd. Sophomore
Avery Tillmanns had a career-high 9.775, and sophomore
Claudia Lessig tied her best effort at 9.725.
"It was an exciting finish to a tough meet," said UAA head coach
Marie-Sophie Boggasch. "We stayed on the equipment throughout the first rotations but had to count some uncharacteristic mistakes. That made the historic finish on bars even more special."
Competing near her East Coast roots, Costello posted a 9.625 on vault, 9.65 on beam and 9.675 on floor. The New Jersey native spent her first three collegiate seasons at nearby William & Mary before transferring north.
Senior
Montana Fairbairn continued her strong season on floor exercise, tying for second on the podium with a 9.825. Junior
Ariana DeSouza added a 9.75 as UAA finished with 48.000 on that apparatus.
Junior
Breeann Spain and Costello led the way on beam with 9.65s, along with a 9.55 from freshman
Verena Wong.
