ANCHORAGE (Apr. 29) – New Alaska Anchorage men's basketball coach
Cameron Turner has started his first recruiting class with one of the top additions from the NCAA Div. II transfer portal, announcing Wednesday that
Tarrance Warren has signed a scholarship agreement.
A 6-2, 175-pound guard, Warren was the third-leading scorer last year at Barry University, averaging 13.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, and helping his team reach the Sunshine State Conference semifinals. Playing a 'sixth man' role, the Dallas native shot 32 percent from long range and 76 percent on free throws, scoring double figures 20 times, including 11 straight games from Jan. 7 through Feb. 18. Among his top performances, he scored 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting to lead an 81-73 road win over Saint Leo, and 25 points (5-10 3FG) in a road loss to eventual national runner-up Nova Southeastern.
Warren will be playing for a familiar face in Turner, who coached him as a freshman and sophomore at Eastern Arizona College.
"I am fired up to coach Tarrance again," said Turner, who was hired Mar. 31 as the seventh head coach in UAA history. "He's an explosive scorer who can get to the basket or be effective with great range on his jumper. Most importantly, he thrives in the big moments and is a high-level person who is truly like family to me. We are thrilled he's chosen to be a Seawolf."
Warren was an All-ACCAC performer in both of his campaigns at Eastern Arizona, helping his team to a combined 55-11 record and consecutive league titles. As a sophomore, he averaged 12.1 points on .507 shooting (.435 3FG, .839 FT), 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists, scoring 20-plus points on seven occasions, capturing second-team all-league and all-region awards.
Warren was the ACCAC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-ACCAC and All-Region 1 in 2023-24, averaging 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting .458 overall, .370 on treys and .857 at the foul stripe. Among his 20 double-figure scoring efforts, he has 32 points (10-14 FG, 5-6 3FG, 7-7 FT) in a 73-62 road win over Cochise and 30 points (5-10 3FG) in a road win over Western Texas.
As a prep star at Sam Houston High School, Warren was named the Dallas ISD MVP and the district offensive player of the year by the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram. He was also first-team all-district and all-region after leading the Texans to a 27-8 record as a senior.
Warren joins a Seawolf roster that features five returners – including 2025-26 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year
Sylas Williams – and two redshirts from a team that went 21-11 and reached the NCAA Tournament.
