Seawolves outgun Silverswords 96-83

ANCHORAGE - Ed Kirk scored 28 points and matched his career-high with seven rebounds to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team over Chaminade 96-83 at the Sports Center tonight.

Sophomore guard Cody Gallatin equaled his career-high with 15 points for UAA (9-5, 3-2 Pacific West Conference), while the Silverswords (8-6, 2-3) were led by 29 points from guard Albert Powell.

The Seawolves trailed 15-12 with 15:30 remaining in the first half, but Shaun O'Shea's layup sparked a 14-2 run over the next seven minutes to give UAA a lead it would not relinquish. O'Shea, a senior center, finished with five points, three rebounds, a career-high three assists, two steals and block without committing a turnover.

UAA shot 50 percent from the field (35-70) and from three-point range (7-14).

Jon Madison, a 6-6 junior, tallied a season-high 13 points and made both of his three-point tries.
