HONOLULU - Ed Kirk scored 23 points grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome a large rebounding disadvantage as the University of Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team fell 99-84 to Hawaii Pacific here tonight.
UAA (13-7, 7-4 Pac West) trailed 47-39 at halftime and cut the lead to 58-57 early in the second half, but Nash Subotic scored a game-high 24 points to help HPU (9-12, 4-8) pull away late.
Reserve point guard Cody Gallatin scored 15 points on 5-of-10 three-point shooting and Taylor Wagner delivered 11 points and five assists, but the Seawolves were badly outrebounded, 45-29.
UAA and HPU meet again Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. Alaska time.
