MONMOUTH, Ore. (Jan. 17) - Peter Bullock broke UAA's career scoring record with 27 points, but it was bittersweet as the Seawolf men's basketball team dropped a 78-69 Great Northwest Athletic Conference decision to Western Oregon on Saturday.
UAA (12-4, 2-3 GNAC) led 33-30 at halftime, but WOU (10-5, 4-2) opened the second half with a 12-2 run to take control. The Wolves had five players score double-figures, led by guard Kevin Tyner's 18 points.
Bullock, who shot 12 for 18 despite battling back spasms, also pulled down 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double this season. He now has 1,678 points to break the record of Hansi Gnad (1,666 from 1983-87).
Mark Drake added 17 points on 3-of-6 three-point shooting, and Kemmy Burgess scored 13 points and dished six assists, but the Seawolves couldn't overcome the hot shooting of WOU, which nailed 9 of 21 threes (42.9 percent).
UAA trailed 68-49 with 6:43 to play before going on a 15-3 run of their own. But they would only get as close as 71-64 with 1:22 remaining.
Senior swingman Blaine Durrant grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for UAA.
The Seawolves are back in action at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Thursday, Jan. 22 when they host Northwest Nazarene.
