ANCHORAGE (Dec. 20) - Junior guard Eric Draper shot 6 of 9 from three-point land to lead a Seawolf barrage from long range as the UAA men's basketball team cruised Tuesday to a 108-66 win over Walla Walla College at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
UAA (9-3) won its fourth straight by hitting 18 treys and got double-figure scoring from five players. Walla Walla (9-8) was led by Jeremy Claridge's 14 points.
Unlike Monday's game - when the visitors from Washington stayed within 12 points and halftime - the Seawolves were unaccommodating hosts, nailing 13 of 16 three-pointers on the way to a 63-31 lead the break. That margin matched the ninth-largest halftime lead in school history, and UAA's 18 three-pointers on the night were just one shy of the school record.
Draper and senior guard Kemmy Burgess scored 22 points apiece, senior swingman Adam Fitt-Chappell tallied a season-high 19 points (7-10 FG, 4-6 3FG), while seniors Aaron Lawrence and James Hartman both had 10 points and five assists. Sophomore forward Carl Arts helped UAA to a 44-29 rebounding advantage with 10 boards.
The win over the National Christian College Athletic Association team concluded non-conference play for the Seawolves.
UAA's Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener is Dec. 29, when its travels to Bellingham, Wash., to take on nationally third-ranked Western Washington. That game starts at 6 p.m. and can be heard live in Anchorage on AM-550 KTZN "The Zone," or over the internet at GoSeawolves.com.
