FAIRBANKS – Freshman Erik Bjornsen's second straight victory wasn't enough as the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks posted a 79-47 win over the Alaska Anchorage Nordic team to capture the 7th annual Alaska Nordic Cup for the fifth straight season on Sunday at Birch Hill.

The Nanooks swept the three-day tournament with a 24-18 win in the pursuit start classic race. The UAF men's and women's team's recorded 12 points apiece to UAA's nine points in both races.

Bjornsen, who won the men's 8K mass start race on Saturday morning, picked up his second collegiate victory in the 10K classic with a time of 29:50.4. Freshmen Martin Kapšo (30:48.5) and Lukas Ebner (31:06.3) were fifth and ninth, respectively.

On the women's side, junior Steffi Hiemer finished runner-up to UAF's Raphaela Sieber with a time of 16:52.4 in the 5K race. Freshman Marit Ulsund was fourth with a time of 16:59.6, while junior Laura Rombach was sixth with a time of 17:10.6.
