Parker leads Seawolves in Montana

BIG SKY, Mont. – Three-time All-American Alex Parker recovered from an injury last weekend to lead the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves with a 10th-place finish in the giant slalom at the 2011 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Alpine Qualifier on Friday.

Parker, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, posted the ninth fastest time in the first run with a time of 57.88 seconds, followed by the 13th best time in the second run at 58 seconds for a combined time of 1:55.88. Parker had suffered an injury to her thumb at the Utah Invite on Jan. 8.

Sophomore Kayla Hoog-Fry, who led the Seawolves in both the GS and slalom at the Utah Invite, recorded a 16th-place showing with a time of 1:56.61. Also racing for UAA were junior Sandra MacDonald (2:01.40) and sophomore Ida Bjerka (2:01.98) in 39th and 40th, respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Andreas Adde paced the Seawolves in 12th place with a two-run time of 1:54.65. The 2010 NCAA Slalom Champion, Adde claimed the sixth-best time in the first run at 55:86.

Claiming 27th place and edging out teammate Cameron Brewington was senior Ryan Wolosyn with a time of 1:57.46. Brewington was 28th with a time of 1:57.54, while junior Halfdan Falkum-Hansen was 52nd with a time of 2:59.94.

The Alpine team will join the UAA Nordic team on Saturday for Day 1 of the Montana State Invitational. The Seawolves and the rest of the RMISA members will race the giant slalom and the freestyle races on Jan. 15, followed by the slalom and classic contests on Jan. 16.
