PARK CITY, Utah – For the second straight day sophomore All-American Andreas Adde led the Alaska Anchorage Alpine team, finishing third in the slalom at the Utah Invitational Sunday at the Park City Mountain Resort.
Adde helped the Seawolves to an overall fifth-place standing after Day 2 with 320.5 points. Colorado finished the Alpine portion of the meet strong, grabbing the No. 1 position with 444 points over host Utah (435). New Mexico (421.5) advanced one position, while Denver (412) fell from first to fourth. Montana State (281) and Westminster College (254) continue to trail UAA at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
A local of Osteras, Norway, Adde recorded a time of one minute, 40.59 seconds, falling to CU's Gabriel Rivas (1:39.25) and UNM's Petter Brenna (1:39.49). The 2010 NCAA Champion in the slalom, Adde has five top-three finishes throughout his career.
Also representing the UAA men's team was sophomore Cameron Brewington (Calgary, Alberta) who finished with a career-high 14th-place at 1:42.80. Freshman Christopher Kollenborg (1:53.14) was 23rd in his slalom debut as the Seawolves registered 93 points – good for fourth.
On the women's side, a pair of sophomores in Kayla Hoog-Fry and Ida Bjerka led UAA. Hoog-Fry (Reno, Nev.) was the first Seawolf down the slope, finishing the two runs in a time of 1:31.94 for 16th. Bjerka, from Tromesoe, Norway, posted a career-high-tying 19th-place finish with a combined time of 1:33.04.
Also scoring for UAA was junior Sandra MacDonald (1:37.24) in 25th place.
The Seawolves were without All-Americans Alex Parker and Egil Ismar who both suffered injuries on Day 1 in the giant slalom.
The Nordic portion of the Utah Invite wont be contested until Jan. 21-22 in Soldier Hollow, Utah.
The Alpine team will return to the slopes on Jan. 14 for the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Alpine Qualifier and will then reunite with the Nordic squad for the Montana State Invite on Jan. 15-16 at Bohart Ranch and Big Sky, Mont.
