WINTER PARK, Colo. – Three-time All-American Alex Parker led the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves in the second day of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Alpine Qualifier with a second-place showing in the giant slalom on Thursday.
Parker, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, used the second-fastest time in the second run (1:00.08) for a combined time of 2 minutes, 2.37 seconds – just .01 seconds behind first place Lindsay Cone (2:02.36) of Denver. The podium finish was Parker's 12th of her career and second runner-up this season.
Also racing for the Seawolves was sophomore Kayla Hoog-Fry, who finished 15th with a time of 2:05.68. Junior Sandra MacDonald (2:06.63) was 20th, while sophomore Ida Bjerka (2:12.92) was 26th.
On the men's side, junior Halfdan Falkum-Hansen (Oslo, Norway) paced UAA in 16th place after being clocked at 1:56.98. Senior Ryan Wolosyn (1:57.67) and freshman Christopher Kollenborg (2:00.66) were 20th and 25th, respectively.
The Seawolf Alpine team will join the Nordic squad for the Denver Invitational on Feb. 11-13 at Winter Park, Colo., and Aspen, Colo.
