'Wolves sit in 5th at Denver Invite

Winter Park, Colo. – For the second straight day, junior All-American Alex Parker led the Alaska Anchorage Alpine team with a fifth-place result in the giant slalom at the Denver Invitational on Friday. The Seawolves finished Day 1 of the invite in fifth-place with 150 points.

UAA used 80 points from the women's team and 70 from the men's for fifth place among the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association members. Leading the conference was host Denver (230), while Utah (227) and New Mexico (212) rounded out the top three, respectively. The Seawolves trail the Colorado Buffaloes, who sit in fourth with 196 points.

Parker (Calgary, Alberta), who posted a season-high-tying second place on Thursday, recorded a two-run time of two minutes, 4.39 seconds. Also scoring for UAA was senior Sandra MacDonald (2:11.38) in 26th and sophomore Ida Bjerka (2:13.39) in 29th.

In the men's races, sophomore All-American Andreas Adde was the fastest Seawolf down the slope, clocking in at 1:53.59 – good for 15th place. Adde, the 2010 NCAA Slalom Champion from Osteras, Norway, hasn't finished below 15th this season and only has twice in his career.

Picking up points for UAA was junior Halfdan Falkum-Hansen (19th, 1:54.00) and senior Ryan Wolosyn (21st, 1:54.47).

The Seawolves will compete in the second day of the meet with the slalom and classical races. The cross country races will be contested at Aspen, Colo.
