ASPEN, Colo. – Junior All-American Jaime Bronga and freshman
Lukas Ebner each posted a top 10 finish as the Alaska Anchorage ski team
finished sixth at the Denver Invitational on Sunday.
After eight events, the Seawolves used 652 points for sixth
place among Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association members, just eight
points shy of fifth place Montana State. The No.2-ranked Colorado Buffaloes won
the meet with 879, besting Utah (869) and host Denver (808). New Mexico
finished fourth with 806 points.
Bronga, a local of Anchorage, posted a season-best fifth-place
result in the 21K freestyle with a time of one hour, eight minutes and 42.2
seconds. Bronga led classmate Laura Rombach (16th, 1:12:59.3) and
senior Kelsey Coolidge (17th, 1:13:08.5) for a combined 90 points.
In the men's 21K, Ebner registered a personal best in eighth
place, finishing the cross country course in 1:00.20.1. In addition to Ebner, rookies
Erik Bjornsen (1:01.15.0) and Lasse Molegaard-Nielsen (1:02:07.4) recorded 12th-and
16th-place finishes, respectively, for 86 points.
Also racing for UAA was freshmen Marit Ulsund and Martin
Kapso, each finishing 25th in their respective races.
The Seawolves will have the next weekend off to prepare for
the RMISA and West Regional Championships on Feb. 25-26 in Park City, Utah and
Soldier Hollow, Utah.
