WCHA announces one-game suspension for Cameron

EDINA, Minn. – Alaska Anchorage senior captain Brett Cameron has received a one-game suspension for his major-penalty hit on Wisconsin's Tim Davison on Oct. 11, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announced Monday morning.

Cameron will sit out the upcoming non-conference game vs. Penn State in the Brice Alaska Goal Rush on Oct. 17. Cameron will be eligible to return for the Seawolves' Saturday, Oct. 18 contest vs. Air Force in Fairbanks.

"It's unfortunate that Brett has received this one-game suspension, but I agree that the WCHA is doing the right thing by limiting contact to the head and emphasizing the health and safety of the student-athletes,” said UAA Athletic Director Keith Hackett. “We wish Mr. Davison a speedy recovery and hope he gets back on the ice soon.”

Cameron was whistled for 'contact to the head' seven minutes into the final period and received a five-minute major and game misconduct. Additionally, Cameron was tagged for a two-minute minor for roughing as well.
