ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head hockey coach Matt Shasby announced that Alex Gomez has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Seawolf program.
Gomez, a forward from Parker, Colo., has scored 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points in 115 career games for the New Mexico Ice Wolves (NAHL).
"We are incredibly excited to be welcoming our first student-athlete Alex Gomez into the Seawolf hockey family," said Shasby. "He portrays all the qualities we are looking to build our team around. He has excellent size (6-4, 185 lbs), high hockey IQ, and relentless work ethic. He also has high leadership qualities proven as he is currently serving as an assistant captain for his New Mexico NAHL team."
Gomez joined the Ice Wolves in 2019 and finished the season with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 37 games. The following season he increased his scoring production to 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists) in 55 games. Gomez has already equaled his scoring production from last season with 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) and four multi-point games. His 13 assists are tied for the team lead, and he ranks second on the team in points.
