ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head hockey coach Matt Shasby announced that defenseman James Darby has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Seawolves.
"Jimmy Darby is going to be a big piece to our back end for the next four years," said head coach Matt Shasby. "He has the size, hockey IQ, and stick skill to thrive at the NCAA Division I level. He is also the captain of his current team in the BCHL and has off the charts leadership qualities. We are very fortunate for Jimmy to be joining us next fall."
Darby (6-3, 204 lbs.), a native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, has played in 136 games over his five-year junior career. He recorded six points (one goal, five assists) in 42 games for the Trail Smoke Eaters. Darby has played the last three years with the Surrey Eagles tallying 34 points (5 goals, 29 assists) in 94 games.
