AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Freshman
Alyssa Manley scored a 9.825 on uneven bars to highlight the night for the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team Friday as the Seawolves returned to action after a near 23-month hiatus in a dual-meet loss to Air Force at Cadet West Gymnasium.
Competing for the first time since Mar. 8, 2020, the Seawolves got a 37.975 all-around from Manley to post a 186.475 overall score.
Air Force took the dual victory with 193.375 points, led by a 39.100 all-around from Ayla McKean.
The Seawolves started with their best rotation on bars, with Manley's score tying the 15th-best mark in program history and leading to a 47.425 team total. Freshman
Jessica Johnson scored 9.6 and senior
Kylie Reese had a 9.525 on bars as well.
Reese tied for team-high honors on vault with freshman
Brooklyn Kopsack, both producing 9.55 scores, while Manley led the way on floor with a 9.65.
UAA totaled a 47.375 to close the night on balance beam, led by a 9.775 from freshman
Shannon Farrell, a 9.725 from
Marcela Bonifasi and a 9.7 from Johnson.
The Seawolves return to action Sunday on the same floor for an 11 a.m. AST tri-meet against Air Force and fellow Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe UC Davis.
