PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Freshman
Jessica Johnson led a handful of Alaska Anchorage gymnasts with strong three-event performances Friday as the Seawolves scored 191.825 points in a tri-meet at Jersey Mike's Arena.
The Seawolves finished third behind defending national champion Michigan, which posted a 198.525, and host Rutgers, which scored 195.575.
Johnson scored UAA team highs on floor exercise with a 9.725 and on balance beam with a 9.7, and tied with freshman
Marcela Bonifasi and senior
Kylie Reese for the Seawolves' second-best score on uneven bars at 9.65.
Bonifasi added 9.625s on beam and floor, while Reese had a 9.65 on floor and a 9.6 vault. Freshman
Alyssa Manley scored a team-best 9.725 on uneven bars, and senior
Rachel Decious made her season debut with a 9.55 on beam, a 9.525 on floor and a 9.3 on bars.
Freshman
Allie McClure led UAA on vault with a 9.65.
The Seawolves posted remarkably similar totals on all four events, with 47.875 points on vault and beam, 48.000 on bars and 48.075 on floor.
