Rachel Decious tied for top honors on balance beam and freshman
Ariana DeSouza produced well on all three of her events Sunday to pace the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team in a 191.625-188.725 loss to West Chester at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves (0-2) also got an individual victory from sophomore
Hayley Perkins, who earned the first win of her career with a personal-best 9.75 on uneven bars.
The Golden Rams (4-0) were led by a 38.250 all-around score from Kristina Rodriguez as the visitors from Philadelphia swept the podium on vault and floor exercise.
"We were much better on beam tonight," said UAA head coach
Marie-Sophie Boggasch, whose team produced a 48.250 team total on that apparatus. "We also had some great performances from Ariana, who was a late addition to the vault lineup and really came through for us."
A freshman from Fairfield, Calif., DeSouza paced the Seawolves with a 9.55 on her first career vault, along with a 9.625 on beam and a 9.575 on floor exercise.
Meanwhile, Decious tied with Rodriguez and West Chester's Anna Lacey atop the beam podium at 9.85. It was the third individual win of the weekend for the senior from Mesa, Ariz., equaling her career total coming into the season.

Alyssa Manley on bars with a 9.65 and floor with a 9.625, sophomore
Jessica Johnson with a 9.775 on beam, and freshman
Paola Ruano Barahona with a 9.525 on her first career beam routine.
