COLORADO – The University of Alaska Anchorage ski teams posted five top-10 finishes at two separate competitions Friday.
The DU Invite opened with a five-kilometer freestyle race.
Magnus Noroey paced the Seawolves with a fifth-place finish in 14:53. Ari Endestad was eighth (15:00), Matt Seline was 16th (15:34) and Peter Hinds was 19th (15:47).
Tuva Bygrave was the top UAA finisher in the women's race placing eighth (17:15). Pascale Paradis was 12th (17:28) and Tuva Granoeien was 29th (20:52).
UAA is currently fourth of seven teams with 127 points.
Bernhard Flaschberger of Denver won the men's race (14:09), and Novie McCabe of Utah won the women's race (15:33).
Ashleigh Alexander enjoyed a breakout performance to lead the Alpine skiers in the giant slalom races at the CU Invite. Alexander sat in third place after the first run and finished sixth overall in 1:53.69.
Ainsley Proffit finished ninth (1:54.50), Alyssa Hill 25th (1:58.16) and Ella Bromee 26th (1:58.27).
Leon Nikic paced the Seawolves in the men's race finishing 17th (1:47.38).
Hunter Eid was 20th (1:48.09), and Caeden Carruthers was 30th (1:49.76).
Sara Rask of Denver won the women's race (1:51.69), and Gustav Vollo of Utah won the men's (1:45.48).
UAA finished the CU Invite in fifth place out of 10 teams.
The DU Invite will continue Saturday with Alpine and Nordic races.
