LAKE PLACID, NY – Ainsley Proffit finished 24th to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage at the NCAA Skiing National Championships.
Proffit finished with a two-run time of 2:18.14.
Madison Hoffman of Utah won the race in a time of 2:10.66.
"Brutally tough day for us," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "Never in my NCAA career have I come in expecting so much and come away with so little. Our kids gave it all they had but losing three out of four is crushing. Nothing to do now but pick ourselves up, dust off, and get back in the ring. We will give everything we got on Friday for the slalom events. Excited for the Nordic skate races tomorrow. Hopefully they can pull us out of the hole we dug today."
UAA will compete in the 5/10-kilometer classic races Thursday.
