LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Tuva Bygrave finished 18th to lead the Seawolves on day two of the NCAA Skiing National Championships Thursday.
Bygrave covered the five-kilometer freestyle course in a time of 13:49.
Pascale Paradis finished 32nd in a time of 14:18.
Ari Endestad led the Seawolves in the men's 10-kilometer race with a time of 24:35 to place 23rd.
Magnus Noroey was 25th (24:38), and Peter Hinds was 27th (24:43).
"It was kind as expected going into it," said associate head coach Trond Flagstad. "Five of our six skiers has been sick and just getting out of it. Going into this the race they felt sluggish. Pascale our only healthy skier fell and got the wind knocked out of her and never really got back into the race. Astrid was a healthy scratch. We are certainly looking forward to Saturday to redeem ourselves. Having a hard race behind us should help them getting back after being sick."
Novie McCabe of Utah won the women's race (12:46), and Joe Davies of Alaska Fairbanks won the men's (22:32).
UAA is currently in 14th place out of 22 teams.
The NCAA Skiing National Championships continue Friday with the slalom races.
