SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – The University of Alaska Anchorage opened the 2024 outdoor track and field season with four top-10 performances at the Hornet Open Friday and Saturday.
Joshua Caleb finished 10th in the 200 with a time of 21.52, second-fastest ever at UAA.
Marc Mercier finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 23-4.5, third-best all-time in school history.
Liv Heite led three women under 15 seconds in the 100 hurdles. Heite placed 14th with a time of 14.52, fifth-best all-time at UAA. Mette Van der Meer was 20th (14.73), and Lacie Simmons was 22nd (14.97).
Liv Heite finished 10th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.66, seventh-all-time at UAA.
Lacie Simmons finished 15th (1:07.48).
Truman Hansen finished fifth in the steeplechase (9:47.17), and Cole Nash placed eighth in the 1,500 (3:52.03).
Kevin Angarita finished 13th in the 400 (48.64) and 47th in the 200 (22.38).
Riday Jana placed 35th in the 100 (11.0) and 48th in the 200 (22.39).
Mette Van der Meer finished 23rd in the pole vault (10-11.75).
Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias finished 59th in the 200 (25.77).
The women's 4x100 finished 11th (48.63) and the men finished 16th (44.26).
UAA will compete at the Aztec Invite March 21-23.
