Caleb competes at NCAA National Championships

PITTSBURG, KANSAS – University of Alaska Anchorage freshman Joshua Caleb finished 11th in the 200 and 15th in the 60 at the NCAA Div. II Indoor Track and Field National Championships Friday.

Caleb ran a time of 6.84 in the 60 and 21.65 in the 200. He did not advance to the final for either race.

"Today was a learning experience for sure, but hopefully Joshua uses it as motivation," said associate head coach Ray Shadowens. "At the end of the day, he was the only freshman to qualify for the 60-meter and it showed. I was still proud of him for bouncing back and competing in the 200. Not his best time, but he gained a lot by competing against the nation's best. He will have plenty more national meets ahead of him, and he's already talking about what he can do to improve. Expect even bigger things from the freshman in outdoor."

Alaska Anchorage will now turn its focus to the outdoor season which it opens up at the Hornet Invite hosted by Sacramento State March 15-16.
