Alaska Anchorage will host defending national champion and top-ranked Denver Saturday and Sunday at the Avis Alaska Sports Complex.
Series
DU leads the all-time series with UAA 48-16-7, but the Seawolves defeated the Pioneers 3-2 in overtime the last time the two schools met in 2013 in Fairbanks. UAA is 8-21-5 all-time against DU in Anchorage.
Season Openers
UAA is 25-12-6 all-time in season-opening games and is 27-11-5 in home openers all-time. UAA has only opened the season on the road five times, four of which were at UAF and the other at Maine in 2019-20.
Coach Shasby
Head coach
Matt Shasby enters his third season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 23-35-3 mark as the UAA's bench boss. Shasby will be assisted this season by

Vincent Pietrangelo.

Connor Marritt will serve as the Seawolves captain this season. Senior

Alaska Anchorages roster features players from four different countries, six Canadian provinces and nine US states.
Point Streak
Junior
Matt Johnson enters the 2024-25 season on a four-game point streak that dates back to March 1, 2024. The Calgary, Alberta, native scored three goals and two assists during his four-game point streak.
Netminders
All three goalies on this year's roster saw action against GCU last weekend. Sophomore
Greg Orosz made six saves on seven shots. Freshmen
Tyler Krivtsov and
Bryant Marks each stopped both shots they faced.
Coast-to-Coast
Alaska Anchorage will play games in eight different states this season, including three trips to the east coast.
Last Time Out
Alaska Anchorage defeated Grand Canyon 7-1 in an exhibition game on Sept. 27th.
Looking Ahead
Alaska Anchorage will play its first road series of the season at Miami (Ohio) Oct. 11-12.
