Cross Country program makes the grade

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Alaska Anchorage cross country programs earned numerous academic honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Thursday.

The Seawolves had seven student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, Ty Elliott (psychology), John Peckham (accounting and marketing), Nell Baker (interdisciplinary studies), Lilli Lindner (mechanical engineering), Alexandra Otto (political science), Ryann Smith (kinesiology) and Avery Williamson (journalism).

To earn all-academic honors, student-athletes had to have a 3.25 GPA and finish in the top-30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Both the UAA men's and women's cross country teams earned all-academic team honors. The men's team posted a 3.06 GPA and the women's team finished with a 3.71 GPA.
