ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – The University of Alaska Anchorage cross country teams opened the 2025 season on a high note sweeping both individual and team titles against the University of Alaska Fairbanks at the Seawolf Throwdown Saturday at Kincaid Park.
Alexandra Otto led the UAA women to a perfect score of 15 with a winning time of 21:30 over the six-kilometer course.
Ryann Smith was second (21:48), followed by Makendra McCarty (22:27), Avery Williamson (22:38) and Lilli Lindner (22:52).
John Peckham ran to the win for the Seawolves as he covered the eight-kilometer course in 23:34.
Ben Browning finished second for UAA in 23:40, with Dexter Delaney of UAA finishing third in 23:45.
Ty Elliott finished fourth (23:50), Matt Rongitsch fifth (24:26) and Ries Tveit sixth (24:51).
The UAA men won by a score of 18-39.
UAA and UAF will battle it out again next Saturday when the Nanooks host the Seawolves in Fairbanks.
