FOREST GROVE, ORE. – Joshua Caleb of the University of Alaska Anchorage opened his outdoor season with a pair of school records at the Pacific Open Saturday.
Caleb ran 20.87 in the 200, setting new school and facility records. His time tied the GNAC record and ranks fifth in Div. II this season.
Caleb joined Marc Mercier, Raday Jana and Peyton George who ran a school-record time of 41.30 in the 4x100. The time ranks seventh all-time in GNAC history.
The Seawolves posted seven other top-10 marks.
Liv Heite won the 400 hurdles in 1:02.30, the fifth-fastest time in school history and the 15th-fastest in Div. II this season. She won the 100 hurdles in 14.42.
Riday Jana finished fourth in the 200 in 22.09, tied for 10th-best at UAA, and finished second in the 100 in 10.88.
Vivien Liessfeld finished third in the heptathlon with 4,303 points. Her javelin throw (35.73/117-3) and shot put (11.04/36-2.75) rank fifth and sixth all-time at UAA.
Tobin Schmidtke made his Seawolf debut finishing fifth in the decathlon with 5,917 points, fifth-most in school history. His javelin throw (52.04/170-9) and pole vault (4.04/13-3) rank fifth and sixth all-time at UAA.
Mya Campbell won the long jump (5.36/17-7), finished second in the high jump (1.48/4-10/25) and fourth in the 200 (26.44).
Marc Mercier won the men's long jump (6.97/22-10.5) and finished sixth in the 200 (22.48).
Lucia Garcia finished second in the 800 (2:20.50), and Lacie Simmons was third in the 100 hurdles (15.14).
Ethan Stiller finished fourth in the 400 (50.79), and AJ Szewczyk was fourth in the 400 hurdles (58.39).
The men's 4x400 relay of AJ Szewczyk, Ethan Stiller, Peyton George and Morgan Grant finished second in 3:27.00.
The men finished fourth and the women were fifth in the team standings.
UAA will compete at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State April 3-5.
