SPOKANE, WASH. – Vivien Liessfeld won the pentathlon to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage on the first day of the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday.
Liessfeld scored 3,467 points in the five-discipline event. She scored 889 points with a time of 9.10 in the 60 hurdles and scored 759 points in the long jump with a leap of 5.70/18-8.5.
Sarah Dittman earned All-GNAC honors with a personal-best score of 3,291 points to finish third. Her score ranks fifth all-time at UAA. She scored 822 points in the hurdles with a time of 9.43 and 712 points in the high jump after clearing 1.58/5-2.25.
Daisy Macias finished eighth in the pentathlon with 2,459 points, thanks to scoring 610 points in the high jump with a clear of 1.49/4-10.5.
Anders Larsen leads the heptathlon after day one with a score of 2,945 points. He scored 875 points in the 60 with a personal-best, and ninth-fastest time in UAA history, time of 7.02. Larsen scored 750 points in the long jump (6.73/22-1) and cleared a personal-best, and tied for fifth-best all-time at UAA, of 1.89/6-2.25 in the high jump.
Tobin Schmidtke is currently fourth with 2,571 points. He scored 732 points in the long jump (6.65/21-10) and 706 points in the 60 (7.52).
Vivien Liessfeld collected her second All-GNAC honor of the day after placing second in the long jump (5.76/18-10.75).
Mya Campbell earned All-GNAC honors in the long jump finishing third (5.61/18-5). She finished fourth in the high jump clearing a bar at 1.60/5-3, tied for fourth-best all-time at UAA.
In the men's long jump, Tyler Drake finished fifth (6.82/22-4.5), and Tobin Schmidtke was seventh (6.66/21-10.25).
The men's distance medley relay of Stephen Zukowski, Brian Morris, Hunter Taddy and Ethan Ackroyd finished fourth in 10:18.30, the eighth-fastest time in school history.
Ty Elliott ran 14:47.04 to finish fifth in the 5,000.
The Seawolves had three women advance to the finals of the 60 hurdles. Liv Heite was the top qualifier in 8.63. Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias qualified fourth (8.85) and McKinley Eddington seventh (9.12), the 10th-best time in school history.
Jessica Chisar qualified as the second-seed in the 800 with a time of 2:15.46.
The women are currently third and the men are tied for fifth out of nine teams.
The GNAC Championships conclude Tuesday.
