Ski trio headed to World Championships

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – The University of Alaska Anchorage will be sending three skiers to the 2026 Junior World Championships and U23 World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway March 2-8, 2026.

"We are very excited to have three of our skiers represent their countries at the World Championships in Lillehammer," said associate head coach Trond Flagstad. "It's a nice confirmation that we are developing athletes to be competitive at the highest level in our sport. Their solid performance this year will in turn help us tremendously at the NCAA championships in March. We are looking forward to seeing them compete at the world level and at the NCAA level."

Murphy Kimball will be representing the United States for the second time at the Junior World Championships after finishing 26th in the classic sprint at the 2025 Junior World Championships in Schilpario, Italy. The Anchorage, native has competed in five World Cup sprint races for the United States with a career-best finish of 28th in the classic sprint in Falun, Sweden in 2025.

Corbin Carpenter will represent the United States at the U23 World Championships. The Carbondale, Colo., native earned All-American honors after finishing 10th in the 7.5-kilometer classic race at the 2025 NCAA National Championships. He has eight top-10 finishes for the Seawolves this season.

Marlie Molinaro will represent Canada at the U23 World Championships. The native of Whistler, British Columbia has two World Cup starts with a career-best finish of 55th in the freestyle sprint at the Minneapolis World Cup in 2024. She represented Canada at the 2023 Junior World Ski Championships in her hometown of Whistler, placing 39th in the 10-kilometer freestyle race.

The Junior World Championships and U23 World Championships will feature a freestyle sprint, 20-kilometer mass start freestyle race, a 10-kilometer interval start classic race and a 4x5-kilometer relay.
