LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 22) - Josh Davis had game-highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead host Wyoming to a 85-67 victory over the UAA men's basketball team at the Arena-Auditorium tonight.
UAA (1-7) got 13 points from junior Shane Bannarbie and 10 from freshman G.J. Macon, but the Seawolves couldn't keep up with the Cowboys (8-3) on the boards, getting outrebounded 50-36.
The Seawolves pulled within 68-62 with 5:19 remaining when sophomore Peter Bullock completed a conventional 3-point play. After another Bullock layup made it 74-65 with 3 minutes to go, the Cowboys finished the game on a 13-2 run.
UAA was in foul trouble throughout the game, committing 33 to Wyoming's 13. The Cowboys were 32 for 44 from the free throw line; UAA was 11 for 13.
Bannarbie fouled out along with Bullock and Nelson Williams, but not before he established his career high in points, assists (4) and steals (5). The forward from Missouri City, Texas, led the team in all three categories.
UAA is off for the Christmas holiday before hosting Angelo (Texas) State for a pair of games the Sports Center Dec. 28-29. Both games tip at 7:05 p.m.
