ANCHORAGE (Dec. 21) - Peter Bullock and Cody Gallatin scored 17 points apiece, but it wasn't enough to rescue the UAA men's basketball team from its third straight loss as Colorado School of Mines won 95-78 at the Sports Center tonight.
UAA (3-6) shot just 32.9 percent from the floor, while CSM (8-2) blistered the nets at a 57.4 percent clip, including 40 percent on three-pointers. Guard Matt Luedtke had a game-high 24 points and team-best eight rebounds for the Orediggers.
CSM jumped to an early 20-3 lead, hitting six of its first seven three-pointers. UAA cut the deficit to 45-36 at halftime and got it as low as six on four occasions in the second half, but the Orediggers answered every charge.
Bullock also had 15 rebounds for the second straight night, giving him six double-doubles this season. His numbers Saturday made him the fourth Seawolf to accumulate career totals of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. With 1,005 and 512, he joins Dale Bartley (1985-88), Hansi Gnad (1983-87) and Jim Hajdukovich (1995-99) on that list.
Scott Stevens was the only other Seawolf in double figures with 11 points. Stevens also had five assists without a turnover.
UAA is off until Dec. 30-31 when it hosts the Glacier Classic at the Sports Center. The Seawolves play Montevallo (Ala.) at 7 p.m. on Monday and Christian Brothers (Tenn.) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The visitors will also meet Alaska Fairbanks in the early game each night (5 and 4 p.m. respectively).
