UAF pulls away late against Holy Names

ANCHORAGE – Alaska Fairbanks guard Ronnie Baker had 20 points, six rebounds and four assists Saturday to lead his team to a 72-48 men's basketball victory over Holy Names in the AT&T Jamboree at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

The Nanooks (1-1) also got 16 points from forward Stefan Tica and 11 points apiece from guard Joe Slocum and center Sergej Pucar, slowly extending their lead throughout the second half.

The Hawks (0-3) got 12 points apiece from forward Dante Robinson and reserve guard Blake Watkins, but the Oakland, Calif., squad shot just 34 percent after trailing 32-29 at the break.

Holy Names will remain in Anchorage for one more game, a 5 p.m. tip-off against Alaska Anchorage on Sunday at the WFSC.
