Former Seawolf headed to second Olympic games

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Former University of Alaska Anchorage ski team member Casey Wright will be headed to her second Olympics next month in Beijing. The Nordic skier will be representing Australia.

"After everyone having a rough couple of years dealing with COVID, it's really nice to be able to get to the Games and see all that hard work pay off," Casey Wright said. "Now that we've been able to get over here to Europe, we've really been able to appreciate what we get to do with our sport and to be back racing. This is what we do and this is what we train for, so today's selection is making everything that we've done over the last couple of years really mean a whole lot."

Wright, a native of Melbourne, finished 63rd in the classic sprint and 81st in the 10-kilometer freestyle at the Pyeongchang Olympics and has made 13 appearances on the World Cup. During her time at UAA, she earned All-American and Academic All-American honors and was named the Elite 90 winner.

Wright is the third Seawolf competing at the Beijing Olympics, joining JC Schoonmaker and Hailey Swirbul, who were named to the United States Nordic Ski Team last week.
