ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Marit Flora finished second and Hedda Halvari was third to lead the Alaska Anchorage ski team in the season opening race at the Alaska Cup Saturday.
Marit Flora covered the 10-kilometer freestyle course in 29:14, and Hedda Halvari finished in 29:53.
Constance Lapointe was fourth (30:31), Marlie Molinaro fifth (31:32) and Dashe McCabe seventh (33:02).
Corbin Carpenter was the top finisher for the UAA men finishing fourth in 25:31. Matt Seline was one spot behind in fifth (25:34).
Hermod Bangstad was seventh (25:43), Erling Bjornstad eighth (25:56), Garrett Siever ninth (26:02), Murphy Kimball 10th (26:03), Henry Skjoensfjell 12th (26:22), Parke Chapin 13th (26:36) and Ethan Eski 14th (26:40).
UAA will take a 68 second lead into the final day of the Alaska Cup, a 7.5-kilometer classic race.
The Alaska Cup is a yearly competition between UAA and UAF. The winner is determined by the combined time of the top-three skiers for each team across all four races.
