Ellensburg, Wash. – Cole Nash and Joshua Caleb each won conference titles for the University of Alaska Anchorage on the final day of the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.
Nash, who also won in 2022, won the 5,000 in a time of 14:38.37. The Seawolves have won the men's 5,000 at the GNAC Championships nine times.
Caleb won the 100 in 10.28, establishing new school and GNAC championship records. The time ranks second all-time in the GNAC. UAA has won the men's 100 six times at the GNAC Championships.
The Seawolves earned 10 All-GNAC honors, including six today.
Liv Heite finished second in the 100 hurdles (14.28) and fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:04.17). Mikayla Mader finished fifth in the 100 hurdles in 14.61, the eighth-fastest time in school history, and Mette Van der Meer finished sixth (14.63).
In the women's 5,000, Alexandra Otto finished second (18:00.13) and Jordan Strausbaugh placed fifth (18:19.86).
Kevin Angarita finished third in the 400 (48.94), and fifth in the 200 (21.78).
Michael Zapherson ran 3:54.37 to finish third in the 1,500, with Zach Kohler placed sixth in 3:56.90.
The men's 4x400 relay of Anders Larsen, Tim Hunter, Riday Jana and Kevin Angarita finished third in 3:19.77.
The women's 4x100 relay of Mikayla Mader, Vivien Liessfeld, Liv Heite and Portia Binford finished fourth in 48.09.
The women's 4x400 relay of Kaitlyn Backman, Liv Heite, Lacie Simmons and Jordan Strausbaugh finished seventh in 4:05.65.
Mikayla Mader was eighth in the high jump (1.57/5-1.75), Jessica Chisar eighth in the 800 (2:28.19) and Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:07.14).
The UAA men placed sixth out of nine teams with 66 points. The women finished seventh of nine teams with 59 points.
UAA will compete at the NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Emporia, Kan. May 23-25.
