SEASON PREVIEW: The Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team returns eight healthy student-athletes from its 2024 squad, in addition to getting junior standout Alyssa Manley back from an injury redshirt campaign ... UAA is looking to improve on its average of 190.786 and NQS of 191.570 ... the Seawolves also get a boost from eight freshmen (six true/two redshirt) and talented transfers Grace Costello (William & Mary) and Jamilia Duffus (Talladega).

TEAM NOTES: UAA's eight dual victories in 2024 were the third-most in program history and just off the record of nine from 1986 and 2005 ... the Seawolves posted four program top-25 totals on balance beam last season, with the 48.400 score at Brown tied for No. 4 and the 48.600 at Centenary ranking No. 12 ... the uneven bars total of 48.675 at Bridgeport was No. 7 in program history and second-best in a regular-season road meet, while the floor score of 48.850 at Northern Illinois matched the No. 6 mark and was UAA's best since 2016 ... the  2024 Seawolves' vault average of 47.895 and NQS of 48.040 were their best on that apparatus since 2016.
 
'WOLF BITES: Senior Montana Fairbairn tied the 16th-best balance beam score in UAA history with her team season-high 9.85 at Brown last year, while her 9.825 floor routines at Northern Illinois and the MPSF Championships tied for UAA's best on that apparatus in 2024 ... Fairbairn led UAA last year with 30 scores of 9.6 or higher, including on all 11 of her vaults and 10 of her 11 floor routines ... Fairbairn was Second Team All-MPSF on floor (9.780 NQS) last season and on vault in 2023 ... sophomore Claudia Lessig led UAA in 2024 with three event victories, all coming in the Centenary meets ... Lessig's 9.875 beam routine Feb. 9 was her first career victory and made her just the sixth Seawolf in program history to score that high on beam ... Lessig's 2024 all-around average of 38.350 ranked 9th-best in program history, while her beam average of 9.634 led the team and ranked 13th on UAA's program list ... UAA gets a big lift with the return of junior Alyssa Manley from a medical redshirt campaign ... an All-MPSF Second Team pick on bars in her first two seasons, Manley produced the 9th-best UAA season average at 9.666 in 2023 ... the Seawolves are also getting a boost from senior transfer Grace Costello, a two-time All-GEC Second Team performer in her three seasons at William & Mary ... Costello brings career highs of 9.775 or higher on all four apparatus, including a 9.825 on beam last year.
