ANCHORAGE – Junior guard Kyle Fossman had 22
points and nine rebounds Sunday night to lead the Alaska Anchorage men's
basketball team to a 93-66 exhibition victory over Northwest Indian College at the
Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
In their last game of the 2012 calendar, the Seawolves – ranked 25th in the
NCAA Div. II coaches' poll – also got 18 points apiece from sophomore forward
Christian Leckband and freshman guard John Erickson to pull away from the Eagles
in the second half.
Northwest Indian, from Bellingham, Wash., was led by game-highs of 28 points,
10 rebounds and three blocks by forward Josh Nelson.
UAA put six players in double figures as Colton Lauwers accounted for 11 points
and five assists, while guards Mike MacKelvie and Jalen Little each came off
the bench to score 10 points.
Erickson, a 6-4 guard from Sisters, Ore., got the start and scored 13 of his
points in the first half as UAA claimed a 51-38 lead at the break. He finished
shooting 7 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 7 on three-pointers, to go with
a game-high seven assists.
The Seawolves (8-2, 1-1 GNAC) are now off for more than two weeks until
traveling to Northwest Nazarene on Jan. 3 as they resume Great Northwest
Athletic Conference play.
