ANCHORAGE – Alaska Anchorage head hockey coach Dave Shyiak
announced Wednesday that sophomore Corbin Karl will not be returning to the
Seawolves for the second half of the season after the holiday break.
“Corbin has decided it would be more financially feasible to
pursue an education and play hockey back at home in Canada or at a Div. III
school,” said Shyiak. “We certainly understand how difficult it can be when you
are paying all this money and not playing. Corbin is a fine young man and we
respect his decision. We thank him for all his efforts and wish him all the
best in his future endeavors.”
Karl, a local of Foremost, Alberta, who has yet to dress in
a game this year, posted three goals and three assists in 24 games during his
rookie campaign.
The Seawolves are on the road this weekend at Minnesota
State (Dec. 7-8), before returning to host Minnesota Duluth, Dec. 14-15. UAA
will then have two weekends off before facing Wisconsin on Jan. 4-5.
