ANCHORAGE – Junior point guard Brian McGill scored a career-high 33 points and the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team used a record-setting rebounding performance to defeat Northwest Indian College 103-50 on Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (2-4) also got 20 points, six assists and a career-high nine rebounds from senior guard Travis Thompson, while freshman center Kalidou Diouf had his first double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Eagles (0-8), from Bellingham, Wash., were led by 11 points and three assists from guard Treat Hollis.

UAA led 10-6 after three minutes before taking control with the next 13 points.

The Seawolves also got seven rebounds from sophomore Travis Parrish as they forged a 47-12 rebounding advantage, breaking the previous program record of 15 rebounds allowed (Jan. 22, 2014 vs. Northwest Nazarene).

With his teammates patrolling the boards, McGill connected on 13 of 21 field goals and all four of his free throws, topping the 29-point effort he posted last year against Alaska Fairbanks. The Preseason All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection also dished eight assists without a turnover.

Junior guard Kevin Bowman added a season-high 12 points and dished four assists.

The Seawolves are back at the Alaska Airlines Center on Wednesday, Nov. 26, when they open the 37th annual GCI Great Alaska Shootout against Pacific at 7:30 p.m. That game will be televised live nationally on CBS Sports Network, plus statewide on GCI cable channel 1.

NOTES: Thompson equaled his career rebounding high of nine, set last season at Simon Fraser … Thompson also increased his career assists total 265, moving past Chris Hamey (260, 1995-2000) for ninth place on the UAA list … now with 1,284 points, Thompson is on the verge of catching Tony Turner (1,289 pts, 1977-80) for seventh on the career list … Diouf was 6 of 7 from the field to finish the two-game set against NWIC with 91 percent shooting (19 of 21).
