Seawolves post season-high 190.325 at SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Sophomore Stefany Bryan earned a 37.900 all-around Sunday to lead the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team to a season-high 190.325 score in a tri-meet at Houck Field House.

The Seawolves finished third behind host Southeast Missouri (194.075) and fellow visitor Illinois-Chicago (193.475).

Despite the losses, UAA broke the 190 barrier for the second time this year, also earning season-best totals on uneven bars (47.550) and floor exercise (48.175).

On floor, Bryan and freshman Kallie Randolph posted career- and team-season-highs for the Seawolves with identical 9.725s, while redshirt freshman Julia York improved her personal best with a 9.7.

On bars, UAA's European duo of Simone Penker (Maria Saal, Austria) and Marie-Sophie Boggasch (Schwarzenbach am Wald, Germany) led the way with 9.65s, along with 9.55s from Bryan and freshman Nicole Larkin.

Junior Morgan Cook – who was held out of the all-around due to a minor injury for the second straight meet – produced the Seawolves' top placing of the day, tying for fourth with a 9.6 on balance beam. Penker scored a 9.525 on beam to finish her most consistent weekend of the season.

York produced UAA's best vault of the day with a 9.6, while Boggasch and Bryan tallied 9.55s.

UAA (2-5) returns to the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Sunday, Feb. 16 for its 'Pink Out' meet against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival UC Davis. Action gets under way at 2 p.m.
