SEATTLE – The University of Alaska Anchorage opened up a busy weekend of track and field with Seawolves competing at both ends of the state of Washington.
Nell Baker moved up to seventh all-time in the 3,000 after running 9:56.30 to finish 99th at the Husky Classic.
Michael Zapherson and John Peckham finished 79th (8:30.94) and 84th (8:34.36) in the men's 3,000.
Cole Nash ran 14:28.84 to place 38th in the men's 5,000.
Over in Spokane at the Whitworth Invite, Anders Larsen leads the heptathlon after day one with 2,686 points. He opened with a time of 7.17 in the 60 (823 points) and long jumped 20-9.25 (659 points). He threw 37-9.5 in the shot put (577 points), fifth-best all-time at UAA, and cleared 5-10.75 in the high jump (627 points), seventh-best all-time.
Mette Van Der Meer cleared 11-2.5 to place 11th in the pole vault.
Vivien Liessfeld finished 12th in the pentathlon with 2,257 points.
UAA will compete at the Husky Classic and Whitworth Invite Saturday.
