LONG BEACH, CALIF. – Joshua Caleb broke his second University of Alaska Anchorage school record of the week by running 10.34 in the 100 at the Beach Invitational Saturday.
"I don't think people will believe me when I tell them that was his first open 100-meter race ever," said associate head coach Ray Shadowens. "But it was, and I'd say it was quite the debut. He runs a bit tight in the shorter races, and that's why we think the 200 and 400 are better for him, but now that he has a taste of the 100, he's excited to run again and thinks he can run way faster. Sky's the limit for him!"
The previous record of 10.46 was set in 2023 by Enrique Campbell.
Kevin Angarita finished 12th in the 400 (48.48), and the men's 4x100 relay finished 12th (42.86).
Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias finished 26th in both the 100 hurdles (14.52), and 400 hurdles (1:04.52). Live Heite placed 27th in both the 100 hurdles (14.55) and the 400 hurdles (1:04.55).
In the 10,000, Michael Zapherson ran 30:36.71 and George Payne ran 31:59.11.
Alexandra Otto ran 2:16.60 in the 800, and 4:39.94 in the 1,500.
Ty Elliott ran 3:58.71 in the 1,500, and Jordan Strausbaugh ran 4:46.72.
Zachary Koehler ran 14:49.75 for 5,000.
In the steeplechase, Avery Williamson ran 11:25.56 and Ries Tveit ran 9:24.18.
Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias ran 12.55 in the 100, while Liv Heite ran 12.72 and Portia Binford ran 12.76.
